The scenic Odisha Beaches

Odisha beach

Puri Beach, or the Golden beach, is popularly known as being a well-liked beach in the beautiful city of Puri, in Odisha, India. It is near the mouth of the Bay of Bengal. It is renowned for being a prominent tourist destination and a Hindu religious place.

The city receives thousands of visitors during the peak season, making it an ideal destination for beach lovers. Many beaches in the state have gained a high ranking for their scenic beauty and their recreational activities. Most of them have become major tourist destinations with various tourism firms that promote tours to Indian beach destinations. Some of these destinations have emerged as must-visit tourist places in India, apart from being favorite holiday destinations of foreign tourists. This is mainly because of the scenic beauty and the serene atmosphere that they offer.

A classification of the beach is carried out according to the people that visit it and the culture around it. Overall:

  • The Bay of Bengal is a quieter Arab sea, gradual and laid back. For water sports, jets and wider beaches. This is suitable.
  • The Portuguese culture, lifestyles, and food practices have a great influence on Goa. Liquor is accepted in society (in comparison to other parts of Indian beach towns). Young people who drink binge always prefer Goa instead of Puri. Also, some say that drinks are cheaper.
  • Puri Beach is also adjacent to the Shri Jagannath Temple, the major Hindu pilgrimage center. The visitors are therefore mostly family pilgrims. This is an important reason why Puri does not have young visitors, although he is a laid-back town. Please bear in mind that foreigners flocked to remote areas of the Puri beach during the hippy movement, but their crimes drove them away. They were also unfamiliar, but many were caught in child abuse, drug addicts or drug trafficking, exploiters for the poor, etc.

  • PDA and liberal clothing in Puri is not easily digested as well as in Goa. Often people go to Goa to break free of monotony, constraints, and fixed lifestyle, saying "What happens in Goa stays in Goa," unless you post it on social media;
  • While Puri is not the full majority of visitors but it still is a minority of young visitors, hippies, social drinkers, in that segment, they are a minority.

Several picturesque backwaters lead to the golden beaches of puri beach. One can enjoy a romantic sunset walk along the sunset path while strolling on the tranquil backwaters that border the beach. This is the best way to experience the scenic beauty of nature in its purest form. Besides walking on the path of sunset, one can enjoy a wide range of water sports that include river rowing, banana boat, and many more such games. These water sports offer captivating sights to the tourists and make them mesmerized.

Apart from the sightseeing, there are other activities to participate in while on tour to our beach. Swimming, scuba diving, boating, fishing, and other water sports can be enjoyed by all age groups and for all seasons. In the evenings there is the best view to enjoy when the sun sets. A spectacular show called 'Odissi' or 'Fire dance' is staged on the beach during the evening and when the sun sets it offers spectacular lighting of the setting sun. Kids will love it, and adults will feel a thrill at the magic of it.

Another point of interest is the dark marine life that resides around the waters of puri beach. There are several species of whales, sharks, turtles, and octopuses. One of the popular attractions is the brightly colored stingray. It makes the entire area looks like a great scene of natural wonderment.

Apart from all these, one of the major attractions of puri beach is the horse safari organized in the open-air marketplace every day. It offers a wonderful opportunity to sit on top of the saddle and enjoy the amazing views of the sea. There is an English version of the horse safari organized by the South Indian Tourism and Travel Operators. They organize this particular sightseeing trip all through the year, and it attracts many visitors from all over India and abroad. It allows viewing Orissa's coastline from the exotic viewpoint of a luxury train, which would have been traveling between different parts of India and Sri Lanka.
